When is registration?

Registration for our winter season typically opens in September.

Who can play?

Boys and Girls in 1st–6th grade. Athletes will complete an evaluation prior to team placement. Evaluation results help determine the division that best matches each athlete’s skill level and development needs:
– 1st–2nd Grade Boys — Division I & II
– 1st–2nd Grade Girls
– 3rd–4th Grade Boys — Division I & II
– 3rd–4th Grade Girls
– 5th–6th Grade Boys — Division I & II
– 5th–6th Grade Girls

What are Evaluations and Uniform Try-ons?

Upon registration, your confirmation email will include a link to sign up for evaluations with evaluation details.

Evaluations are required for all athletes to help ensure fair and balanced team placement. Athletes will participate in basic basketball drills to assess skill level, confirm registration details, and complete uniform sizing using sample try-ons. Please have athletes wear athletic shoes and shorts and sign up for one evaluation time that works best for your schedule.

Evaluation results help us place players in the appropriate division and build balanced teams.

Can I request a friend, coach, or practice night?

Yes. During registration, you may submit requests and will be asked to indicate your priority (friend, coach, or practice night).

While we do our best to honor requests, they are not guaranteed due to league size and team balancing needs. Requests may not be possible if athletes are in different divisions, choose different locations, or if placing them together would impact team balance. Same-night practice requests for siblings are also not guaranteed.

Kindergarten Policy

Can my kindergartner participate? Yes — kindergarten athletes may participate if they are 6 years old by January 1 of the upcoming winter season. A parent or guardian must also volunteer to coach their athlete’s team for the season.

Can my athlete play up a level?

All athletes must register and complete evaluations in their current grade level. Families may request to play up, and requests will be reviewed by our leadership team after evaluations are complete and roster capacity is determined. Please note that grade-level exceptions are rare and final decisions may not be made until evaluations are finished.

What equipment is required?

Basketball, shoes, and a water bottle.

Financial Assistance

We understand that families may experience financial hardship, and we never want cost to prevent a child from participating. Please contact sports@rocky.church to learn about available financial assistance options.
