Silver linings: Support for Families Affected by Substance Abuse
Silver Linings is an ongoing weekly faith-based support group for family and friends dealing with a loved-one’s substance abuse problem. Our weekly meeting is a safe, casual place for families to get answers to tough questions, exchange contact info and receive encouragement and peer support as it relates to substance use disorder. This is not a 12-step recovery group. Facilitated by Joe and Judy Herzanek, participants include parents, adult children (18 and over), spouses, siblings and friends. We meet Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30 pm at Rocky in Frederick in room 2022. No registration is required and no childcare is provided.
DivorceCare is a weekly support group and seminar conducted by people who understand what you are going through. Over 13 weeks, you’ll learn how to deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life. Contact Cris at for more details.
It hurts to lose someone. Find help at GriefShare, which is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Contract Cris at .
Stephen Ministry & Counseling
Stephen Ministry is a one-to-one caring ministry. Rocky equips and empowers caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential and Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. When you need someone to come alongside you during a challenging season, a Stephen Minister might be right for you. For details, contact Cris at .
Beyond care and counseling provided by pastoral staff, Rocky maintains a list of counselors we know have a Christian world view in their approach. We do not make specific recommendations but are happy to provide a list for your consideration. The ultimate choice of a counselor is up to you. Here is a LINK to our list.
